Cusco The ancient Inca citadel Choquequirao, in Cusco, was chosen as one of the 20 best tourist destinations for 2015 worldwide, by the prestigious National Geographic Traveler magazine.
The ancient city of Choquequirao shows the vestiges of the Inca ancestors and their culture. It is located exactly in the province of La Convencion Quillabamba. and its ruins are so majestic that they are easily compared to Machu Picchu. It even comes to be called “the sister city of Machu Picchu” for its similarity in architecture and landscapes that surround it. To get there, tourists will have a wonderful trekking experience, from a distance of 60 kilometers or 37.5 miles for 5 days. It takes place in one of the deepest canyons on the planet formed by the well-known Apurimac River. The tourist travels majestic snowfalls and fearsome cliffs.
Day 1: Challenge and pretty.
After picking up guests from their hotels at 4:30 am with our private bus, we will start our journey towards San Pedro de Cachora village situated at (2,900 m/ 9,570 ft.) Where we will have a welcome breakfast. After breakfast we will reach by bus the Capuliyoc panoramic point (2,800 m/9200 ft.) where we will star to Hike Capuliyuc – Chiquisca and Playa Rosalinda.
Hiking 09 hours approximately distance (12 km – 7.5. miles).
Day 2: challenge climb.
We will get up early, have breakfast and begin our hike by crossing Marampata town. We will camp at the Choquequirao Inca site. Hike Playa Rosalinda – Santa Rosa – Marampata and Choquequirao.
Hiking 8 hours approximately distance (14 km – 8.5 miles).
Day 3: Choquequirao.
After breakfast, we will visit the magnificent archeological site of Choquequirao for the entire day. Enjoy the private guided tour and explore all of the beautiful sections of the temples, terraces, palaces, the llamas’ section, and much more. We will return to our same campsite for tea and spend the night.

Day 4:
Today is one of the easier days of our trek. Again We will cross the Apurimac river to the last camp site Chiquisca

Day 5: Cusco.
After enjoying a delicious breakfast, we star to hike for 03 hours to Capuliuc where we enjoy our last lunch. After we take our private transport to Cusco.

- We recommend our hikers to arrive in Cusco 2 or 3 days before their trek. This will allow you to acclimatize to the height so as not to have problems in the walk.
- In Cusco we have only one main airport, most flights arrive from Lima to Cusco, which is the most recommended and easiest for our tourists.
- The trip from Lima to Cusco by bus is quite long approximately 22 hours and it is not recommended that you travel directly to Cusco. If you want to do it, we recommend that you do it by sections Lima – Nazca – Arequipa – Puno and Cusco.
- In Cusco we have many hotels located throughout the city of Cusco. If you need help booking a hotel or would like some recommendations on where to stay, do not hesitate to contact us.
- Arriving in Cusco you have extra days before or after your walk. We are happy to help you organize some more important tours as there are tourists who want to spend more days in the imperial city of the Incas.
- We offer free pick up and transfer from the airport to your hotel in Cusco. We do this in order that you don’t have to worry about anything. Let us know in advance the airline company, the schedule and flight number that arrives in Cusco.
- Near the weather, Cusco is located at 3,350 m or 11,050 ft. which makes the weather very difficult to predict. In Cusco, we have two seasons; the rainy season, which runs from November to March, and the dry season, from April to October. We recommend the dry season that is from April to October. But for some tourists the stations don’t matter and they plan their tour according to the time they have and it is possible to organize some tours according to the weather.
- At near altitude sickness or soroche, Cusco is located at 3,350 m or 11,050 ft. Therefore, the air is short, dry and difficult to breathe for which it is recommended to arrive in Cusco 2 or 3 days in advance of the tour

Itinerary
We will pick you up from your hotel between to 4:00 am to start our trip in a private van for 5 hours to northeast of Cusco city, through small towns until Capuliyoc town (2.800 m/ 9,240 ft.) where we have a delicious breakfast and where also we will meet with our trip staff (muleteers and horses).
After breakfast we begin with our hiking for about 20 minutes and will arrive to our first viewer where we have a panoramic view, in front of us we can see the vilcabamba mountain range called ( padreyoc) and the famous Apurimac Canon, after having an amazing view we will start our descend for 3 hours through beautiful landscapes where you will be able to see different medicinal plants which were used by our ancestors ( muña, chilca and different varieties of plants) If we are lucky we will be able to see the majestic Condor, we descend until Chiquisca (1800 m –5,940 ft).
After having Lunch we will have a 30 min break to continue with or hiking, Descending 45 minutes more until Playa Rosalinda. After passing the famous Apurimac river we continue to hiking up until Santa Rosa where we spent the night.

After an early breakfast we will continue with our tour where we will observe the making of craft cane liquor and we will have the opportunity to taste a brandy called ‘Cambray’ made with sugar cane. The next stop will be the Marampata region (2,850m/9,240 ft.) where we will enjoy a spectacular view of the archaeological site Choquequirao. On our path we will encounter a variety of plants and a warm climate until reaching the Rayampata area, where our campsite will be located. We will be enjoying the best views. Choquequirao is located (3,000 m – 9,900 ft.)

Its urban design has followed the symbolic patterns of the imperial capital, with ritual places dedicated to Inti (the Incan sun god) and the ancestors, to the earth, water and other divinities, with mansions for administrators and houses for artisans, warehouses, large dormitories or kallankas and farming terraces belonging to the Inca or the local people. Spreading over 700 meters, the ceremonial area drops as much as 65 meters from the elevated areas to the main square. The city also played an important role as a link between the Amazon Jungle and the city of Cusco.
