Peru and the end less natural beauties that we can find throughout its territory never cease to amaze us and this adventure will be no different. If you are an admirer of the mountains, adventure and camping, this proposal is perfect for you. Together with the group of travelers we will make a unique tour that will take us through amazing places.

We will begin our journey feeling the traditions of the Peruvian people in Cusco and then go for 4 days to trek along the ancient classic inca Trail  until we reach the wonderful Citadel of Machu Picchu. We will pass through the spectacular inca constructions and cross the dead woman pass reaching 4200 meters above sea level, (13,800 ft) which will be the maximum altitude of our route. From there, we will begin our descent into the Andean jungle to finally reach the lost city and let ourselves be enveloped by all the energy and history it contains.

Throughout 8 days we will have the pleasure of taking a tour that will take us both to sacred mountains and to one of the highest points of the Andean massifs of the Cusco region and you can be part of it. Cheer up for this adventure that will make you feel Peru like you never imagined.

We provide a full orientation before your tour begins. The briefing is held at our office in Cusco at 6:00 p.m. the day before departure. This is a great opportunity to meet your guide and clarify any final questions.

  • We recommend arriving in Cusco at least 2 to 3 days before the tour begins to allow proper acclimatization to the altitude.
  • Alejandro Velasco Astete International Airport (CUZ) is the closest airport to the city. Most international flights connect through Lima.
  • By bus, travel from Lima to Cusco takes about 22 hours.
  • Accommodation is available in Cusco for all budgets; we can help arrange hotels before and after your tour.
  • We also offer optional tours such as Humantay Lake, Maras & Moray, and the South Valley.

  • The dry season (April to October) is the best time to visit.
  • The highest point on the Classic Inca Trail is 4,215 meters (13,828 ft), so altitude sickness is a possibility.

Itinerary

Upon arrival at the airport of Cusco, your tour guide will meet you at the airport and drive you to your centrally located hotel. Later in the afternoon, at 13.0o pm, you will start a walking tour in the center of Cusco, visiting the most remarkable places like Plaza de Armas, Koricancha, and important streets. Next, you will drive to Sacsayhuaman, Quenqo, Puca Pucara, and Tambomachay. The tour will finish back at your hotel.

Transportation to the difernt inca places

After breakfast in your hotel, The tour guide will collect you from the hotel at 8:00 am and drive across the Sacred Valley mountains. On the way, you will stop at the Awanacancha alpaca farm. Here you can see llamas, alpacas, vicuñas, guanacos and learn the difference between them. Then continue to Mirador of Taray, a lookout point with spectacular views of the Sacred Valley, the Andes’ eastern mountain range, and the Urubamba River. Later, you will head to the Pisaq archeological site, a very well preserved Inca settlement built on top of the mountain. Explore impressive agricultural terraces, the thousands of tombs, palaces, houses surrounded by enormous walls, and the Sacred Valley’s beautiful vistas. After exploring, You will drive to Pisaq town to visit the handicraft market, very famous because the local artisans produce their textiles and sell them directly to the tourist. After bargaining in the market, you will drive for 1 hour to lunch at a Urubamba local restaurant. You will have a variety of dishes prepared with fresh products from the area. After enjoying a delicious lunch, you will drive and discover Ollantaytambo’s fortress, walk along the narrow Inca streets in the town, and head back to Cusco. On the way, you will visit Chinchero, explore the well preserve Inca site, visit the colonial church built over the Inca Palaces, and finally visit the textile center to learn Andean textiles’ art. Drop off at your hotel around 6.00 pm.

Along the way you will enjoy outstanding views of the Andes, glaciers, red mountains, rocky hills, and South American camels in their own environment. After a 2-hours climb we will arrive at the “Rainbow Mountain”, our final destination, which is located at (5,020m/16,566ft.) Here we will be able to observe the snow-capped mountain of Ausangate, the highest in the Cusco region. After we will visit to some locals who still maintain their traditional way of living and their own language which is called Qechua, the language of the Incas. After the visit we will go down the same way and enjoying our delicious lunch then board our private transport to return to your hotels in Cusco.

Hotel pick up at 5:30 am in Cusco (3,350 m – 11,055ft.) Our private transport to will take us to the Km. 82 of the Inca trail, where we will start our walk. Here we will be able to observe the Vilcabamba mountain range and its majestic glacier Veronica (5,800 m /19,140ft.) as well as the sacred river of the Inca Urubamba. After visiting some historical sites, we will have lunch on the mountainside, and after a brief “siesta” we will start to walk again until the first campsite Huayllabamba (3,000 m /9,900ft.)where we will have dinner.

At 5:30 am we will have our wake-up tea (coca tea) to start our intensive trek from Huayllabamba towards the peak of Wuarmihuañuska (“dead woman”) located at (4,200 m / 13,860ft.) The walk takes about 6 hours and along the way we will be able to appreciate the beautiful and changing landscape. After a delicious lunch in Llulluchapampa (3,800 m / 12,540ft.) we will continue our walk-through beautiful views of mountains and valleys. Finally, we will descend to our second campsite called Pacaymayo (3,600 m /1,880ft.) where we will have dinner and we will recharge our batteries for the day to come.

In the morning, after a nutritious breakfast accompanied by coca tea, we will start our walk from Pacaymayo to one of the most beautiful sections of the Inca Trail. During this 2-hour walk we enjoy many spectacular views and appreciate the changing climate from the “Puna” grassland to the cloud forest (jungle), and we will also have the opportunity to observe the spectacular Salcantay (the secondhighest, snow-capped peak of the region) and the Vilcabamba mountain range. Towards the end of a group of Inca houses we will start our climb to the last peak Phuyupatamarca (3600 m / 11,880 ft.) From here we will have our first glimpse of Machu Picchu, although the actual site will not be visible. We will reach our last campsite near Wiñayhuayna (“Always Young”) after a 3-hour walk along steps made of stone. This is one of the most popular campsites due to its proximity to MachuPicchu.On our way down we will visit two archaeological sites, Phuyupatamarca and Intipata (Sun Terraces). In the afternoon we will have lunch and relax in order to be ready for our last day in Machu Picchu, and we will also visit the Wiñaywayna archaeological site. As it is a tradition on the Inca Trail, in the evening we will have a “farewell ceremony” with porters and cooks.

After an early rise we will have our last breakfast accompanied by coca tea. We will then start our walk towards the Inti Punku (“Sun Gate”) where we will enjoy a spectacular view of Machupiccchu, one of the wonders of the world, also known as “Llactapata”, the lost city of the Incas. Here we will start to go downhill along a paved path to the Machupiccchu archaeological site check point (2,400 m / 8,000 ft.) The site opens at 6:00 am and we will head towards the “Guardian House” which offers the perfect spot for postcard-like pictures and one of the best views. We will then start our guided tour, where we will visit the most important sites.

The trek is moderately challenging. It involves high-altitude trekking with several steep ascents and descents, but it’s manageable with a basic level of fitness.

Yes. Inca Trail permits are limited and must be reserved well in advance. We handle this for you.

In case of illness or injury, alternative arrangements (like returning by train) can be made. You will always be accompanied by a guide or assistant.

The best months are from April to October (dry season). Rainy season runs from November to March and can make the trail more difficult.

Yes. Porters carry group equipment and can also carry your personal items if you hire an extra porter.

Yes, children over 10 years old with good physical condition can join. Please consult with us in advance.
