Welcome to the Classic Inca Trail, the most famous and most spectacular hiking route in South America! This ancient 45-kilometer or 26 miles Inca trail follows the footsteps of the Inca pilgrims to the gates of the sacred city of Machu Picchu, one the new 7 wonders of the world.

Our exciting itinerary offers 4 days of trekking along the original Inca pathways, passing a spectacular array of Inca ruins along the way. The trail is located high in the Peruvian Andes climbing gradually from the valley floor (2,700m / 8,856 ft.) to the most spectacular mountain passes (as high as 4,215m / 13,825ft). At every turn, the surrounding scenery will take your breath away!

Hiking the 4day Inca Trail is a strenuous and awe-inspiring adventure. For four days we will push ourselves to our physical limits, resting each night under the spectacular Andean night sky. But on our final day, any feelings of pain and exhaustion simply disappear as the mist lifts to reveal the emerald peaks and terraced ruins of the mystical ancient city.

Day 1: easy.

Pick up from the hotel in Cusco in Our private transport that will take us to Km 82 of the Inca Trail, where we will begin our unique adventure, we will pass through these Inca places. Patallacta and Hike Miskay Huayllabamba.

Hiking 7 hours approximately distance (10 km – 6.25 miles)

Day 2: challenge.

Start our intensive but not impossible hike from Huayllabamba to the top of Warmihuañusca (“dead woman”) from where you can enjoy the beautiful views of the mountains and glaciers being there is the only experience. Hike Huayllabamba – Llulluchapampa –Warmihuañusca – Pacaymayo.

Hiking 8 hours approximately distance (12 km – 7.5 miles).

Day 3: Inca sites and history.

Hard and impressive day the best of the Inca trail and its Inca constructions such as: Hike Runkuracay – sayacmarka – Phuyupatamarka and Wiñayhuayna ending in the high jungle.

Hiking 10 hours approximately distance (16 km – 10 miles).

Day 4: Machupiccchu.

Easy day with tired body and legs, but eager to see Machupicchu from the Sun Gate. from where we will enjoy a spectacular view one of the world seven wonders of the Machupiccchu. Guided in Machupicchu with the best hiking guide. In the afternoon return by train and car to Cusco.

We will secure all necessary permits once we receive your complete information and reservation deposit. Permits are subject to availability and are issued for a specific date and under your name. We try to offer natural and organic food. we buy the whole ingredient from farm farmers; They work all their products naturally and without chemicals. We have professional chefs from Inca Trail.

Picchu Mountain is an optional trek within Machu Picchu Citadel which do not include a guide. The climb is usually done on your own after your tour of Machu Picchu Citadel. If you would like the extra hike to be guided, please request in advance. There is an extra cost for this extra guided tour.

Extra money to buy extra drinks or snacks has to be in Peruvian soles.

  • We recommend our hikers to arrive in Cusco 2 or 3 days before their trek. This will allow you to acclimatize to the height so as not to have problems in the walk.
  • In Cusco we have only one main airport, most flights arrive from Lima to Cusco, which is the most recommended and easiest for our tourists.
  • The trip from Lima to Cusco by bus is quite long approximately 22 hours and it is not recommended that you travel directly to Cusco. If you want to do it, we recommend that you do it by sections Lima – Nazca – Arequipa – Puno and Cusco.
  • In Cusco we have many hotels located throughout the city of Cusco. If you need help booking a hotel or would like some recommendations on where to stay, do not hesitate to contact us.
  • Arriving in Cusco you have extra days before or after your walk. We are happy to help you organize some more important tours as there are tourists who want to spend more days in the imperial city of the Incas.
  • We offer free pick up and transfer from the airport to your hotel in Cusco. We do this in order that you don’t have to worry about anything. Let us know in advance the airline company, the schedule and flight number that arrives in Cusco.
  • Near the weather, Cusco is located at 3,350 m or 11,050 ft. which makes the weather very difficult to predict. In Cusco, we have two seasons; the rainy season, which runs from November to March, and the dry season, from April to October. We recommend the dry season that is from April to October. But for some tourists the stations don’t matter and they plan their tour according to the time they have and it is possible to organize some tours according to the weather.
  • At near altitude sickness or soroche, Cusco is located at 3,350 m or 11,050 ft. Therefore, the air is short, dry and difficult to breathe for which it is recommended to arrive in Cusco 2 or 3 days in advance of the tour

Itinerary

Hotel pick up at 5:30 am in Cusco (3,350 m – 11,055ft.) Our private transport to will take us to the Km. 82 of the Inca trail, where we will start our walk. Here we will be able to observe the Vilcabamba mountain range and its majestic glacier Veronica (5,800 m /19,140ft.) as well as the sacred river of the Inca Urubamba. After visiting some historical sites, we will have lunch on the mountainside, and after a brief “siesta” we will start to walk again until the first campsite Huayllabamba (3,000 m /9,900ft.) where we will have dinner.

At 5:30 am we will have our wake-up tea (coca tea) to start our intensive trek from Huayllabamba towards the peak of Wuarmihuañuska (“dead woman”) located at (4,200 m / 13,860ft.) The walk takes about 6 hours and along the way we will be able to appreciate the beautiful and changing landscape. After a delicious lunch in Llulluchapampa (3,800 m / 12,540ft.) we will continue our walk-through beautiful views of mountains and valleys. Finally, we will descend to our second campsite called Pacaymayo (3,600 m /1,880ft.) where we will have dinner and we will recharge our batteries for the day to come.

In the morning, after a nutritious breakfast accompanied by coca tea, we will start our walk from Pacaymayo to one of the most beautiful sections of the Inca Trail. During this 2-hour walk we enjoy many spectacular views and appreciate the changing climate from the “Puna” grassland to the cloud forest (jungle), and we will also have the opportunity to observe the spectacular Salcantay (the second–highest, snow-capped peak of the region) and the Vilcabamba mountain range. Towards the end of a group of Inca houses we will start our climb to the last peak Phuyupatamarca (3600 m / 11,880 ft.) From here we will have our first glimpse of Machu Picchu, although the actual site will not be visible. We will reach our last campsite near Wiñayhuayna (“Always Young”) after a 3-hour walk along steps made of stone. This is one of the most popular campsites due to its proximity to MachuPicchu.On our way down we will visit two archaeological sites, Phuyupatamarca and Intipata (Sun Terraces). In the afternoon we will have lunch and relax in order to be ready for our last day in Machu Picchu, and we will also visit the Wiñaywayna archaeological site. As it is a tradition on the Inca Trail, in the evening we will have a “farewell ceremony” with porters and cooks.

After an early rise we will have our last breakfast accompanied by coca tea. We will then start our walk towards the Inti Punku (“Sun Gate”) where we will enjoy a spectacular view of Machupiccchu, one of the wonders of the world, also known as “Llactapata”, the lost city of the Incas. Here we will start to go downhill along a paved path to the Machupiccchu archaeological site check point (2,400 m / 8,000 ft.) The site opens at 6:00 am and we will head towards the “Guardian House” which offers the perfect spot for postcard-like pictures and one of the best views. We will then start our guided tour, where we will visit the most important sites.
